ONE OF OUR SMALLER (if not the smallest !!) BRETHREN WAS 60 YEARS OLD BACK ON FEBRUARY 16TH, AND ONE OF HIS OFFSPRING BOUGHT HIM A COPY OF THE LONDON TIMES, EVENING EDITION, FROM 1951, TO COMMEMERATE THE DAY.
You`ve guessed already who we are talking about…….. David Taylor of course, that much travelled salesman from the rich part of Yorkshire.
Anyway, tucked away in part of that same newspaper was a nice little advert, very relevant to all our yesterdays, and note the year well, 1951, at the very beginning of a certain part of BH history.
…….so there`s a thing, possibly the very begininngs of Euclid Wagon Hirers career, coinciding with the production of the first FD truck, the R-15, in Newhouse, also 1951, with E.W.H. eventually morphing into Blackwood Hodge Hire 18 years later in 1969.
It isn`t known of course as to whether the record of Diddy David`s birth was also registered in The Times, as he wont be drawn on the subject.
We have passed on our thanks for his contribution.
