YET ANOTHER CONTRIBUTION FROM JOHN COLVER, THIS TIME COMPLIMENTING BOB GREENSHIELDS` DESCRIPTION OF THE TIME IN THE MAGGIE DEUTZ DIVISION. ITS IN NORTHERN REGION PURLEY BECAUSE IT WAS BASED AT HAYDOCK.
(WHAT IS IT ABOUT BOB & HIS MEN….ARE THEY THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN WRITE (OR TYPE) STILL ??).
Morning Editors…it`s chucking it down with rain so I am having a morning on the lap top and now completely up to date with every thing on the BLOG.
Well done, it is most enjoyable.
I particularly enjoyed the Bob Greenshields story, and I shall be ever grateful that he gave me the start with B.H in April 73, and then was good enough to set me on a second time after leaving in 1977 after having 18 months at Aveling Barford.
Unfortunately I am not sure what happened in the Boardroom but I think Bob moved on in late 1979. I know he did not have that many friends in the group but if you were his boys he always looked after you as long as you worked hard for him.
Thanks Bob, can you still remember the 3 D`s ??
I have an unfortunately good memory for possible names that may be best forgotten.
Here goes. For the Western region in George Mitchell / Peter Goodleys time how about *Terry Marsden who covered the North West before Danny Lightfoot came on the scene, and #Andy Warth who worked as a demo driver and worked in the Midlands with George before leaving and joining SLD Olding.

# eventually went to Peter Stevenson in Cumbria, and is possibly still there.Ed.
To add a few names to the Bob Greenshield list on the early Maggie Deutz team. Graham Perry was the Southern sales man, ex Wimpey and left join to MAN for a short while and then went back to Wimpey were he was involved with land fill business off in Lancashire and bought several ADTs from the BH Western region and converted them into container trucks. He was replaced by David Magee.
John Mowatt was set on as the service manager, and I believe remained there till the John Deere division arrived at Haydock. Last seen to my knowledge working for Ruttle Plant.
Reg Ambrose also left and went to MAN before setting up his own muck shifting business. He was replaced by Phil ???
The Mag Deutz business was rolled into the main stream in approx 75/76 time not before Bobby had handed over the rains to Mike George for a short while. He was ex Northampton area and had done time in Africa with BH, and I believe went back there.
So there you are, a bit more to add to the BLOG.
