MR JIMMY CAMPBELL SNR OF WEST OF SCOTLAND EXCAVATIONS LTD, HAS MADE CONTACT AND SUPPLIED US WITH SEVERAL IMAGES OF BOTH MACHINES HIS COMPANY HAVE TRANSPORTED FOR BH OVER THE YEARS, AND ALSO SOME WHICH IS OWN COMPANY HAVE PURCHASED FOR THEIR MUCKSHIFTING CONTRACTS.

SO IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, WE GIVE YOU MR CAMPBELL`S CONTRIBUTION, WITH HSI DESCRIPTION.

"Good Morning, here are some off the photos I have managed to find. First picture taken in our yard at Coatbridge, probably in the late 1970`s, of a CKD TS-24, heading for Southampton…

…..secondly, what we believe was the first 40-66 artic on trial at our OCCS across the road from the Terex factory……

…..next, one of three 23-66 artics pictured in Cumbernauld Depot waiting for the other two units that we bought at the same time……

……this is a very special trailer, one of a kind, made in our workshops solely to carry 33-11 bodies, as in the good old days, permission was rarely granted to move the machines in one piece, because of the width, and if we had to transport the body separately we always had to take a "high load route" as motorway bridges are on 16`6" high, but this trailer had a running height of only 8", therefore enabling us to transport the body vertically and use the motorway network, thus shortening the delivery time around  the UK……

………lastly in this section, a photo of one of the 33-09`s we purchased from BH Hire with the contract at Southport Sand, belonging to Wm Rainford. We also purchased several more 33-09 from around the country, from  Kier  Mining & McAlpines.(NB: that blur on the horizon is the houses 2 miles away on Southport shore, for anybody who has never ventured out on that job !! Ed.)

Three more trucks we bought from Euan Mackintosh at BH Cumbernauld, ready for the off to our site in Airdrie…….

……one of the very many 72-71`s specially built for the M.O.D., with our transport manager of many years, George Nodwell, now retired, but worked with us for 35 years. Many of the 72-71`s were delivered to all the airports around the country, but you guys will know more about these than I do…..

……now something different, a photo taken of some 33-09`s coming in by ship from the Terex factory in Brazil to Glasgow Docks. The story goes that they loaded the trucks, then the hold was filled with coffee beans !! On arrival, the beans were offloaded first, and then when they took the trucks out of the hold, there were beans everywhere, aircleaners, filters, everywhere, and a load of work had to be done before they were eventually ready for work on site ! I believe that they were sold to Kier Mining, and we bought one from them many years later.
