MOST PEOPLE IN THE U.K. COMPANY WOULD BE AWARE OF BLACKWOOD HODGE HIRE, OR THE EARLIER VERSION, EUCLID WAGON HIRERS, AS THE HIRE COMPANIES IN THE GROUP, WHEREAS OF COURSE ON THE CONTINENT, AND IN CANADA, THERE WAS SUNRENT.
The difference in Europe lay in the type of machine that was hired out, and we have a note below from Ben Saly, who was General Sales Manager at the end of its operating period in Holland. We also have a few shots of some of the machines they had in the hire fleet. We apologise for the size, but when we blew them up, they became extremely blurred, and incomprehensible….bit like some of us after the Lighthouse Lunch in December !!!
We like this last image…..the van being one of the hugely reliable and long-living Opel 2000`s, in which many a UK service engineer spent 250,000 miles or more during the van`s, and his, career. Easy sometimes to forget the mechanical servants that we all had, taken for granted most of them, but we are sure that most of us would remember one company car or van that we had that did us proud.
Ben has been kind enough to send in some Blackwood Hodge News` from yesteryear….he has found some and sent them from Holland, so please you lot, get looking as well !!
