RECENTLY, WE CAME ACROSS A SPECIFICATION SHEET FOR AN R-17. NOT THAT UNUSUAL, IF IT HAD BEEN A TEREX R-17……………..BUT IT WASN`T, IT WAS LABELLED EUCLID !!
Now we were always brought up to believe that R-15`s were Euclid, and R-17`s were Terex, but have we been mislead ?? We assumed the change came when General Motors bought the factory around the 1968/69 period
Can anybody advise as to whether they ever saw a Euclid R-17 ?? The spec sheet is dated May 1968, and you can see it below, with a rather strange exhaust stack as well…..what is that about ??….and note that "Pete" is missing from the side logo as well !!
Perhaps any ageing Euclid/Terex survivors from Newhouse can enlighten us….maybe it was on Euclid GB Ltd`s books to build, but never made it because of the name & ownership change, or was one actually built ??
We would like to know, so please anyone….can you help ??
PS: The other strange thing about it that the spec sheet was actually found in Australia, and until he sent it to us, was the property of Mr Malcolm Coffey of Cleveland, Queensland, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his contribution.
