ON SAFARI WITH FRED !!

FRED POLE, probably not known to too many outside the Africa Corp, but he was with BH Overseas as an engineer for some seven years, 1971-78.

He has given us a series of images of people & machines from his years on the Dark Continent, but so far, we have had no script from him to flesh out his story, but we remain hopeful….so we have Fred`s Safari in photos….starting with what we assume to have been on a Terex course somewhere, probably in Newhouse…. 

Now to BH Zambia from 1971, with Glyn Matthews, and an angry small Matthews by the look of it.. 

…still in Zambia, obviously one of Fred`s harder tasks, with Colin & Diane Larrett….. 

….didnt know he did a Benny Hill impression…… 

…Stan Briggs from Wimpey, at Chambishi Mine, with a rare animal in shot as well, a 72-81…. 

…Stan & Fred again, fronting the best trucks ever built, the R-45`s….. 

….last one from Zambia, somewhere here is an 82-80……

….onto Ghana now, 1974, a group shot, so see if you can pick Fred out…. 

…Ghana still, Fred in his khaki`s…maybe those shorts are a little too small ……

…and lastly, the car that Fred drove from Ghana to UK…one day we must have that tale Fred !!
