Just a series of five images, mentioning one or two names that are familiar to some, taken during one of his assignments to Baghdad, under the auspices of Gatewood Engineering, and no doubt the leadership of Norman Martin ??
London to Baghdad, yes they drove all the way, with Alan Smith, (no, not the big lad, the better looking one !!), November 1978, with their trusty Volvo estate being loaded at Piraeus, Port Athens. They spent 2 days aboard this Russian cargo ship on the journey to Latakia, Syria……
…then across the desert through Jordan, where this image was snapped of Nick..
….obviously not wasting any time settling in, here we have Nick with Harvey Matthews in Taylor Woodrow`s 345 Club in Baghdad, Christmas 1978, with both looking a tad worse for wear……
….1979, and off again with keith Warrender, in another Volvo escorting a rake of 33-07`s from Basrah to Baghdad, sleeping in the car overnight on the two day trip……
…..and finally, one of the trucks parked up outside the Company house in Baghdad.
