IT HAS BEEN SOMETIME, AROUND 18 MONTHS IN FACT, SINCE WE LAST PUT FINGER TO KEYBOARD TO ADD ANOTHER B.H. DIRECTORS REPORT, SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, WE BRING YOU THE ITEM FROM 1964.
Long gone now are the Reports full of images of the Company`s sales machinery, and although they still appear in short bursts, the accent from now was almost totally confined to figures and reports of the Company`s performances during the current year.
This year was significant in many ways, not the least that it was the year that the Founder, Bernard Sunley, died on the night of the 1964 Company bash at the Salon, in Northampton, and inside the front cover was the last official image taken of BS, with its self-explanatory text.
We have touched on before as to how the Company may have fared differently if such people as BS & Gerald Zitter had lived to their full terms, and now, 20 years after its demise, it is difficult to think that it could have fared worse.
This was now the set-up of directors etc, that drove the Company onwards…..
…….followed by the new chairman`s report, that man being William Shapland….
Now, something at last for the "dieselheads"….one of the largest multi-bowl scrapers ever produced by Euclid, the TTS40, designed to carry approaching 125 tons of overburden in the 2 massive, 3 engine driven scraper boxes…..
More metal now, bringing to the front another of the many BH franchises, the P&H1800, loading a Euc bottom dump, possibly a B100……
….followed by one of BH Canada`s best sellers, the Hough D500 rubber tyred dozer…….
….and finally a shot of an ocean going yacht, powered by Cummins V.T 12-825 marine diesels, supplied by BH, but unfortunately, no mention of which country the boat is from, or which BH country supplied them……..does anybody know ??
Lastly, we have a list of the countries that made up the BH Empire at that time, along with the great and the good, and the others, who ran them in that period. Even we young ones remember some of the names, so you older types must know plenty !!
