IN DECEMBER 2012, THERE WERE TWO SOCIAL OCCASIONS AT WHICH VARIOUS HODGITES WERE PRESENT (when aren`t they !!), MOSTLY WITHIN A SHORT ARMS LENGTH OF THE BAR, AND CERTAINLY NO MORE THAN A YARD AWAY !!
Firstly, at the apparently soon-to-be-closed Eastcote Arms, was 90% of the Eastcote Eight, the Hodgite gang mostly responsible for the commencement of the B.H. Reunions in 2009 (dont forget June 29th for this years !!!!!!!!!!), who had gathered to wish each other a Merry Christmas etc.
Thirteen in fact turned up, and with the exception of Dan Willis, seven of the original Eight were there, they being Ken Kirkpatrick, Ted Farmer, Colin Jailler, Martin Ede, Steve Wheatman, Malcolm Syme & Dennis Tidmarsh.
In addition for support (not that they needed any !!) were Tony Freshwater, Mark Bullock, Tony Nelmes, John Bailey, Keith Brealey, & Alan Matchett, see image below.
At the East Midlands Lighthouse Lunch a couple of weeks earlier, a similar number of Hodgites had attended, and alledgedly, some had even paid for their own tickets !!
They weren`t all seated together, but were seen jawing and jarring for most of the day in company, and one bright spark got them all to sign one of the place cards, and if we can decipher them from this below…..
….we will try to remember who they were…. Martin Ede, Tony Freshwater, Tony Nelmes, John Bailey, Ted Farmer, Keith Brealey, Dennis Tidmarsh, Benny White, Martin Brawn, Alan Rance, Mick Stevens, Dave Braithwaite & Seamus (Jimmy) McAbe. ….thirteen in all we think, and hopefully we havent missed out anybody.
It would appear that all had a good day, and the Lighthouse Club benefitted accordingly.
