FOR THE 4TH YEAR RUNNING NOW, THE OVERSTONE THREE ORGANISED THE BLACKWOOD HODGE GOLF DAY AT OVERSTONE GOLF CLUB, NEAR NORTHAMPTON.
DUE TO THE (SLIGHTLY) AGEING POPULATION OF B.H. EMPLOYEES CAPABLE OF SWINGING A CLUB, IT WAS DECIDED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO TO INVITE CLOSE FAMILY MEMBERS TO JOIN THE DAY, AND THIS YEAR WAS NO DIFFERENT.
The players assembled on the 1st Tee as usual, and a kind member of the Golf Shop there took a group photo, see below…..
…….showing those present as Karl Brealey, Tony Freshwater, Martin Ede, Seamus McCabe, Keith Matthews, Ned Edwards, Julie Edwards (caddy), Keith Brealey, Vera White (wife of Benny), Lynn Freshwater & Tony Vernon-Smith.
….and now a contrast in styles….

…..it can be seen from these first images that Karl had volunteered to play around, sorry a round, with the ladies……something his father would never have done !!
Back to the 1st Tee………..

….on the course now, Ned & Seamus discussing the different merits of their balls….
….."I should have used a wedge"…..
…..and then as the result of an enormous shot, Ned proudly records the Longest Drive…..
…..now back in the clubhouse after a mixed weather round, beers and food are on the agenda…

….and then the presentations……overall winner for the second time, Tony V-S…..
…..second was Seamus…..
….Ned was 3rd…….
…..and 4th place, and Top Lady, went to Vera…..
…..Longest Drive……
….went to Ned…..
….and Tony dropped in Nearest the Pin….

…..the ensemble then enjoyed a good hot meal, and plans were drawn up to organise the 5th Annual BH Golf Day in 2014.
Later that evening, the mob from HML & BHH met up at the Moulton Park Toby Inn for a meal and a chat, and despite having lost our Leader in the last 12 months, 20 gathered there, including wives & girlfriends, all benefiting from the meal vouchers unearthed by Nigel Bailey on the interweb which availed all and sundry of a 2 course meal for £6.50, excellent value it was too !!
Unfortunately, the camera available on the night proved to be unreliable, and only one shot was taken, albeit of most of the good looking and charming partners, so here is our only picture of most of the lovely ladies who attended…..
…left to right clockwise we have Pat McCabe, Vera White, Jane Stevens, Ann Brealey, Julie Edwards, Andrea Reeve, and Kath Startin.
Blokes present were George French, Nigel Bailey, Mick Stevens, Seamus McCabe, Benny White, Stewart Brown, Tom Woodward, Keith Brealey, Ned Edwards, Jimmy Reeve, & Peter Darby.
Partners present but not pictured were Debbie Darby, Maria (Tom Woodward) and Emanuela Pennetta, Stewart`s good lady.
A great time was had by all, and again, provisional arrangements were made to meet up again next year.
