LIKE ALL CREATURES OF HABIT, THE FIRST WEEK IN DECEMBER BRINGS OUT THE HODGITES FOR THE ANNUAL LIGHTHOUSE LUNCH AT NORTHAMPTON.
2013 was no different, and a good representation of the Company was present, they being, in no particular order……John Bailey, Tony Nelmes, David Hall, Ted Farmer, Keith Brealey, Dennis Tidmarsh, Benny White, Martyn Brawn, Mick Stevens, and Martin Ede.
Two weeks later, at that fine hostelry in Ecton, The Three Horshoes, owned by our very own Steve Wheatman, many of the above plus some more turned out again (much against their collective will of course) this time to celebrate the five year old existence of The Eastcote Eight, the founders as it were of the movement that has brought about this website, and the three Reunions so far.
The Eastcote Arms was the meeting place for some years, but after closing down for a while, and also its existence being linked to the sad death of one of the Eight, Ken Kirkpatrick, it was decided to change the venue, and Steve was more than happy to welcome us to Ecton.
Martin Ede as ever came armed with his camera, and the resultant effort to capture the day for posterity is below…..
……..for those who cannot see past the greying hair & shiny pates, from the left standing we have Malcolm Syme, Colin Jailler, John Bailey, Alan Matchett, Tony Nelmes, Ted Farmer (slightly hidden), Martin Ede and Keith Brealey. Seated from the left are Benny White, Nigel Bailey, Mick Stevens and Seamus McCabe, with mine host Steve Wheatman and Tony Freshwater front and centre.
Dennis Tidmarsh and John MacGregor had also been present, but had departed before we found the camera !!
From midday to about 4.00pm, as you might imagine, plenty of ale was consumed, (and excellent stuff it was too, we thoroughly recommend a visit) along with the very fine food prepared by Sandra Wheatman.
A thoroughly good turnout, one likely to be repeated a few times throughout the year, and of course, anyone from BH is welcome to come along to future get-togethers, and we will give you plenty of notice as to the date of the next session.
