WE CUT OFF FROM KEITH MATTHEWS` FIRST LOAD OF FOTOS JUST A BIT TOO SOON, AS WE FOUND ANOTHER COUPLE OF WORKSHOP TYPE VIEWS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED, SO WE WILL START OFF WITH THEM TO COMPLETE THAT PART OF HIS COLLECTION……
A very early shot of the temporary Probe Lab starts us off, before it became the bottom floor resident of the Service Dept block, and the bearded boy wonder seen playing with his test tubes is none other than David Hall, fresh from apprenticeship and Service Dept experience, taking the first major step on his career ladder which led to much higher roles later in his life….
….and then dear old Ken George playing with his favourite toy….no, the transmission test rig we mean……….
……now onto the yard shots again, this time mostly in colour, so theoretically, a little later than what has gone already…..
….a 72-71 with a massive rock grapple fitted, shown out the back of Pete`s Palace, ie the Paint Shop…..

….a Western Exc TS24, B9LOT, maybe new, but possibly a major rebuild, outside the Bungalow…..
……33-11E probably, maybe a BHH repair job, but also likely to be a new one being prepared for site, shot in the main yard in front of the Stores….

….initial glance made this out as a TS-40C, but a closer look proved it be a rarer item, a TS14B with bowl extensions and noise suppression kits, still probably for coal though….

…hard to tell the colour of this animal, a B9LOT, looks too dark to be Hi-Lite Green, more like orange or red, but it isnt a TS-40C, so who`s is it…

…looks like a standard TS-24 B9LOT, but is that a two man training cab fitted….

….another TS-14A, again in a dark colour it would appear…….

…..now you are talking, Hunsbury`s first TS-14A Water Bowser conversion, posing outside of Reception…this was Hi-Lite Green, but doesnt look it….

…….now a rare site, an S7 CEGB coal scraper, later than you would think, see following back-of-foto image…….
…if you cant read it….CEGB Little Barford, o/h 1979, built initially 1959.

We have shown this one before, but it prefix`s another image following, so we`ve put it in again…Stan Chamberlain putting sense into apprentices….tee hee, not an easy task……
….and the outside of that iconic trailer, parked in front of the Stores.
We come to the last few images in this section now…..a subject not very often recorded, but luckily, on two occasions, Transport Manager Tony Rogers obviously thought it proper to do so……..service vans !!
The wonderful Morris Marina, light, handy to drive & quick for their day, but not every engineers favourite…six brand new ones lined up near the Bungalow……
….and another angle shot……………….

…and finally Tony accepting the vehicle documents, or maybe even the invoice, we guess from the supplier, sometime in 1975.
A little later on, although not much, these babies came to stay for a while…

….the Opel Record 2.0 Diesel, 1978….positive luxury after the Marina …..do any of you service engineers remember if this was yours ??
Thats all for this section, back soon with the last part of KM`s collection.
