THIS YEAR WE DECIDED TO COMBINE OVER ONE WEEKEND THE ANNUAL B.H. GOLF DAY, AND THE 4TH BI-ANNUAL REUNION, AND THIS WE DID ON JUNE 26TH & 27TH.

The Golf Day took place as usual at Overstone Park, Northampton, and 12 Hodgites (and offspring) attended a day that you would hope for weather-wise in June of any year. There were to be more players, but injuries to several ancient bodies in the days before precluded a couple more.

Apart from about 2 minutes of very light rain around 1.30pm, (which caused Alan to don his wet weather gear, but by the time he got it on, it had stopped) the day was almost glorious, and with 4 teams of three players, around 10.30am, the battle began.

Following are quite a few fotos, all supplied by either Martin Ede (the better shots), and Keith Brealey, to whom we are grateful.

The first shot is the obligatory group posing in front of the clubhouse, and of course the BH flag ……Scan0003
…and we have Tony Freshwater, Julie Edwards (caddie), Ned Edwards, Keith Archbold, Martin Wright, Seamus McCabe, Martin Ede, Alan Matchett, Keith Matthews, Keith Brealey, Karl Brealey (son of), Richard Startin, son of Bob Startin.

The following images are the various groups both before tee time and during.Scan0001

Now regarding the 4th & last trio, there is only one shot, showing Alan & Tony going to the first tee. The reason being the old SLR ran out of film, and Mr Brealey had neglected to bring another reel, so that was that !! Probably an age thing !!

Back in the Clubhouse after the very pleasant 4 or so hours walk, apart from Keith B who elected to fanny around in an electric buggy all day, we have the presentations, all made by guest Dennis Tidmarsh.Scan0020
Firstly Martin Wright, winner of the Blackwood Hodge Cup, with 34 points.

In second place on countback was Karl Brealey, also with 34.

…..and the trophy for Nearest The Pin, in fact very near the pin, was collected by Keith Archbold.

Everybody sat down to a well earned ham egg & chips snack, and after a couple of pints, all departed happily to meet up again the next day at the Reunion.

Next year is there is no Reunion, you will have to wait until 2017 for that, but the Golf Day will go ahead annually as usual, and there is even chat about a possible second day`s play at some point, so watch this space.

Special thanks of course to the main organisers of the occasion, Tony Freshwater, Alan Matchett & Martin Ede.

A good day was had by all.       The Overstone Three.
