FRIDAY MAY 6TH SAW THE FUNERAL OF NORMAN MARTIN, GOOD SERVANT TO BLACKWOOD HODGE AND GATEWOOD ENGINEERING OVER A NUMBER OF YEARS, AND WHO HAD DIED UNEXPECTEDLY A FEW WEEKS BEFORE.
We dont have a lot of info regarding Norman`s career, not having known him personally, so we are asking all of his ex-colleagues from the UK and Middle East days if they would contribute a few words each so that Norman`s BH history can be recorded.
There is one exception…a note from Eddie Hopes that Norman started his B.H. apprenticeship in the Engine Shop under Eddie, and he thinks that was in the late 1960`s.
We would very much like to fill in the gap between then and the 1990`s, so if anyone can help, please do.
Dennis Tidmarsh sent in a note about Norman`s funeral,
Around nine Hodgites were there, Malcolm and Elaine Syme — Nick Rose — Tony Freshwater — Martin Ede — Tony Nelmes — John Bailey — Eddie Hopes and Dennis.
We have already published the very nice note received from Norman`s children, so it just remains for us to say bon voyage Norman.
The Editors.
