On September 30th, the third lunchtime gathering of 2016 was held at The Three Horseshoes, Ecton, Northants as usual.
Although mine host Steve Wheatman was away at a mining show in Las Vegas, we still gathered 19 persons together for the usual chit-chat and the odd pint !!
This time was a little different however, as it marked what is probably the last lunchtime apperance of Tony Freshwater, who with wife Lynn, is moving west to Cornwall to be nearer their family.
Tony and Lynn have been stalwarts for both organising and playing the Golf Days, and also always being on the desk to book visitors into the Reunions.
We would take this opportunity of thanking both of them most sincerely for their past efforts, and hope that they do make it back for the next Reunion, hopefully in June 2017, although not sorted yet.
In addition, one of our very regular attendees was celebrating his 77th birthday (not his 79th as we thought !!), that person being Tony Nelmes.
A surprise birthday cake was conjured up by Nigel Bailey, and all present signed a card for AHFN.
We hoped that the presentation would provoke a speech from said Nelmes, but we were only treated to a mumbled 4 word reply…….cant print it either !!
