TO CONCLUDE THE SET OF IMAGES THAT FORMER BH WORKS DIRECTOR KEITH MATTHEWS ENDOWED US WITH SOME WHILE AGO, AS OBVIOUSLY SUITS THE AGEING VIEWERS TO THIS WEBSITE, WE HAVE A NUMBER OF RETIREMENT FOTOS, ALL IN NORTHAMPTON SORRY TO SAY, AS WE GET VERY LITTLE SENT TO US FROM SOURCES OUTSIDE OF THE OLD B.H. MAIN DEPOT, SO IF ANY OF YOU OUT THERE DO HAVE ANYTHING RELATING TO YOU OR YOUR DEPOT/REGION THAT IS RELEVANT TO B.H., THEN PLEASE SEND THEM INTO US FOR PUBLISHING.
So here we go with the final Matthews contribution….hopefully all names have been added now, so we all know who`s who !!
Having said they are all retirement images, the first one patently isn`t……
…..Alex Smith receiving a 23-66 model from KM, but for what ?? He must have been a bad boy to get one of those, unless it came with a lifetime warranty !! Could this actually be in Cumbernauld ?? Maybe a long service presentation ??
Arthur Jennings, Miscellaneous Bay, above with KM, and below with Barry Shepherd, chargehand in Misc Bay….
……Bill Stewart, Northampton Service, with all the lachekos present, far too many to name….
…….Denny Knight, again with a decent collection of colleagues around…….
….Derek Goodwin, ex Misc Stores under the Works Offices……
….Don Brown, Machine Shop foreman, above with KM, below with his muckers……
….Eric Corbett, Degreasing Bay…..
…who can forget Harry Anderson, worked in nearly all BH regions, and a lot of depots….
….and now dear old Jack Hudson, 94 at the 2015 Reunion, and we think still going strong, and will hopefully be at the 2017 bunfight……Works Progress office for decades……
….John Dunnachie, Gear Box Bay, a bloody good diff man, and to illustrate the loyalty he had, even rang up to apologise for not attending a Reunion, when he was very ill and had nothing to apologise about.
…..John Hollowell, "John the Painter" has he was mostly known…….
….Taf Phillips, Welding Shop…..assume the "child" is the newest apprentice.
…..Ted Ashworth, Foreman Electician…..
….and lastly Jack Johnson, who needs no introduction. One person here not often photographed, 3 persons to Jack`s left, is Peter Dawson, who found greater fame after BH as firstly secretary, then chief executive of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club !! One day, he will come to the BH Golf Day !!
The very last images from Keith are the three following, the first one we think is in Cumbernauld, but we wanted to keep his contributions together, hence here in Northampton section……
…..with some we know, and many we do not, assuming that the missing names are mostly Terex personnel, perhaps someone from there can fill us in, maybe one is George Heaney (??) …….in the meantime, the recognisable BH people present are left to right, Tony Barker, Jack Johnson, Brian Burnip, Dave Turner, KM, & Bill Finch.
Finally, two shots of visiting dignataries, we assume one lot from the council, and our chaps, as follows…
…..KM, Jack & a couple of unknowns, probably customers these two, outside the Stores…….
……with Eddie Beesley, Dennis Tidmarsh, JJ, mayoress & mayor (??), Bill Taylor, KM & Bill Finch outside Reception.
KM has donated all his fotos to BHM, but retains them on a dvd, so if anybody has need for an "original" copy of anything that has gone before in this section, dont hesitate to ask.
Many thanks to Keith for this contribution…….one day we might get some written stuff from him, which should be very interesting !!
